A dog attacked a 9-year-old girl in East Baltimore on Tuesday. The victim is in the hospital where she is being treated for dog bites to her hands, arms, and shoulders. Her condition is unknown. The attack was by a pit-bull type dog.
The girl was attacked in the 800 block of Bonaparte Ave. shortly after 6 p.m. The dog wore no collar or tags that would identify it or its owner, Anderson said. When animal-control officer Travell Young arrived, he noted that the dog, a black male, “was not responsive and appeared to be injured,” Anderson said. It also bore old bite marks.
The dog was captured and euthanized. They are running tests to see if the dog was infected with rabies. The owner of the dog has not come forward. The victim remains at Johns Hopkins Hospital.
